Legend of Korra is the sequel to the widely popular cartoon show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Though originally meant to end, the co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko brought this new series in response to the popular demand of the series to continue. This series is supposed to air on April 14, 2012 and run for about twenty six episodes, two books.
Legend of Korra follows the next avatar, a young girl named Korra, as she tries to learn the last element, Airbending, by the last surviving airbender, Tenzin, Aang and Katara's son. Meanwhile, Korra must handle an anti-bending revolt that will impedge her progress of learning Airbending.
Post-war of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang and Zuko, in hopes of bringing the world together, created the United Republic and, along with it, Republic City, the main setting of The Legend of Korra. This city is modernized with steam engines and technology developed by Aang and Zuko. Meanwhile, Katara gives birth to her and Aang's third child, Tenzin, who will serve as Korra's airbending guide. Toph Beifong traveled the world teaching her new form of bending, Metalbending.
After Aang's death, Korra, the new avatar, is born into the Southern Water Tribe. Present day, Korra is an ambitious young girl living in Republic City in hopes to learn her last elemend, Airbending, from the last teacher alive, Tenzin. Meanwhile, Equalists, anti-bending revolutionists, seek to exterminate the bending races and impede Korra from completing her task. With the aid of two brothers, Mako and Bolin, her animal guide, Naga, and the police force led by Toph's daughter, Lin Beifong, Korra must stop the revolt and learn her last element, Airbending.
